Whats hot now! Striper fishing at San Luis res. still remains good. Boaters fishing the main lake in coves and off points, continue to pull limits out with fish up to 12lbs. Drifting live bait ( jumbo minnows and mud suckers) will produce the most. Also top water lures in open water remain very productive. Spooning down to 60 -80 ft. can be very effective. Shore anglers in both main lake and the fore bay mostly soaking bait for best results: pile worms, blood worms, anchovies, sardines, and shad.
Don't forget boaters must go through an inspection to launch . Registration, clean and dry! Also the canal of 33 is now closed to fishing.
Trout fishing is on the" Hot List" also! DFG is now on their winter stocking schedule: For our area Campbell perc ponds, and lake Cunningham. Powerbait, (green pumpkin), nightcrawlers, Power bait trout worms rigged with P>B> salmon egg. Since parkway is now closed for good, McAlpine south of gilroy Is a great place to take kids!

Bass fishing in our local lakes has been slow. Like us in the winter fish slow down and get lazy! Slow down your approach as well. Deep diving crank baits, dartheads, split shotting, and drop shotting.
