Spring is here and fishing has turned on!
Anderson: Looks like we are not going to see boatind this year unless we get some big rains in the next month! With that said, shore angler have been doing pretty good at the the face of the dam and the south end of the lake. For the bass, the drop shot rig has been most effective, also spinner baits and live bait. The crappie seem to be mostly in the south end by wood choppers. Small minnows and red worms under a bobber.
Coyote: Will open to boating on April 15th! We will give you a first hand report after ou tournament on April 6th. The shore anglers are starting to see some action, as the fish are starting to stage into the shallows. Lures of choice have been the "A" rig, Huddlestons, and senko's. We should see some big weights on the 6th, last year 34lbs. for 5 fish won it!
Calero: With the only lake in this area open to boating all year, it has been fished hard. In this last week bass fishing has picked up, as the are getting ready to spawn. This current moon phase is going to trigger all the fish, and it should be on! Fishing Cherry cove with craw colored shallow crank baits, drop shot, and Senko's. Crappie have been big this year. The current leader for our crappie derby with a 2.7lb., came right from the shore with a medium minnow.
Uvas: Been the Hot spot for bass! Uvas is full and the fish are hitting good. Work the shore lines with any reaction baits such as spinner baits, chatter baits, and "a" rig. Some catfish are starting to show, fishing late at night and into the am.
Chesbro: Crappie bite has been good. Good numbers of crappie weighing 1/2 to 1lb range. Mini jigs and minnows, under bobber. Most coming out at night with lighted bobber. Bass hitting also on reaction baits, and live bait.
San Luis: The big lake has been the best from a boat, using jumbo minnows or trolling with broken backs 20-30 ft. For night fishing the forebay under the bridge or back by Check 12, with Pile worms, blood worms, anchovies and shad.
Ocean: Salmon season opens April 6th!
